Week 2 - The impact of AI on the Graphic Design field
With the recent growth and advancements in artificial intelligence, many are curious on how it will affect different job fields. As artificial intelligence (AI) has branched out into image content generation, graphic designers are weary of how it will affect their job. The ultimate question being; will ai be a powerful tool for designers or a replacement?
AI can be a particularly useful tool for designers in terms of idea generation as well as increasing productivity. Simple and tedious design tasks like resizing images and layout optimization can be automated to save time and resources. In addition, AI software can be used to aid creative aspects of work such as idea generation and inspiration.
Though AI can greatly boost efficiency and creativity in the graphic design field, it also has its disadvantages. AI is beneficial for automating tedious design tasks, but that would put designers who only work on standardized projects like ad templates and design blueprints to be out of a job, making AI a double edged sword. Another possible disadvantage of AI would be its impact on creativity. In the previous paragraph I wrote about how AI could help aid creativity, but on the other hand it can also stifle it. Misuse and overreliance on AI for creative tasks can determinate the natural creativity and problem solving of graphic designers.
