Week 5 - Importance of Data Analytics in Digital Marketing
After reading the interview with Courtney Quinn, a Senior Marketing Manager at CompTIA, I gained a deeper insight to the realities of the marketing field. Particularly I was interested in her response to a question about the importance of data skills in digital marketing, this includes skills like data analysis and data science. Quinn emphasized how in todays modern digital landscape, knowing data is incredibly important and will only continue to grow in importance. On the other side of things, she says that though the data is important to know, it is also very important that it is maintained by data professionals. This is because data is a vast practice that needs specialization to be utilized effectively.
As a student of marketing, This interview gave me new insights and knowledge on the marketing field. Due to the importance of data in this field, data analysis is a highly valued skill that can diversify my skillset as a marketer. To improve my likelihood of getting a job or internship within this field, I will work towards gaining more knowledge and understanding of data. Though it is a nice skill to have in addition to marketing, it can also be its standalone career. As Quinn states in her interview, marketers with data skills and data professionals with marketing skills are needed to work together in order to develop efficient marketing solutions.
